This site is dedicated to the country of what used to be known as Prussia, a long-time-now long gone and much forgotten about country. For most all my life, I have had a subliminal and euphoric attachment to Prussia. I feel I know, now, why that was: finally taking the time to do research on the subject, I began with "Posen." The contents of this site are some of the results of that research....

The basis of my inquiry was the fact that my paternal great grandfather was born on January 29, 1843, in "Posen." Another fact was that he met his bride-to-be on his way to America, in 1868, who was born on May 13, 1847, in Hanover, a subject of the Prussian Empire. "Posen" was, in reality, "Poznan," not only a Prussian province, but the capital city of that province.

"…of German descent" may be true in many instances pertaining to many folks coming to America from Europe during the last 150 years, but, in my family’s case, "…of Prussian descent" appears to me to be more factual....

Status quo is so often not questioned or challenged, but in the case of family lineage, I do not believe that status quo assumptions should in any way prevail....

In any event, I am most thankful for the creation of the Internet and what all it is capable of rendering in the nature of research. Please consider this site in the vein of reminiscence and memorabilia as well as a source for additional research, thankful only to the Internet and its countless number of providers of information, a list of which is included.

To me, it has made all the difference in the world in my ability to be able to constructively refer to myself as being Prussian, and not German....
